Die Estnische Nationaloper wurde 1865 in Tallinn gegründet und nahm 1906 ihren professionellen Betrieb auf. 1913 zog sie in das neu gebaute Theaterhaus am Estonia Boulevard. Am 24. August 1913 wurde der Theater- und Konzertsaal feierlich eröffnet. Zuch Zerstörungen im Zweiten Weltkrieg wurde 1946 der Konzertsaal und im Oktober 1947 der Theatersaal wiedereröffnet. Im Herbst 2003 wurde ein multifunktionaler Kammersaal fertiggestellt und im Herbst 2004 erhielt der Theatersaal einen modernen Bühnenbau. Bis zum 100-jährigen Bestehen des Theaters 2006 wurden der große Saal und die öffentlichen Laufsäle saniert, und neue Cafés und Bars fertiggestellt.

The Estonian National Opera was founded in Tallinn in 1865 and began professional operations in 1906. In 1913 she moved to the newly built theater house on Estonia Boulevard. On August 24, 1913, the theater and concert hall was officially opened. After the destruction of World War II, the concert hall was reopened in 1946 and the theater reopened in October 1947. In autumn 2003 a multifunctional chamber hall was completed and in autumn 2004 the theater hall received a modern stage construction. By the 100th anniversary of the theater in 2006, the great hall and the public halls were renovated and new cafés and bars were completed.
